Having acquired the true faith, man must keep
his faith strong and uphold it in the face of
many trials that may come his way until he
reaches his ultimate goal, the salvation of his
soul.
02D.1 How
should a man who have acquired the true Faith in
God and Christ uphold his faith?
In
Colossians 1:23, Apostle Paul gave this
advice:
But, you must stay
rooted and grounded in the faith.
Don't be moved away from the hope of the
Good News that you heard. . . . . . . (IEB)
The true
believers in Christ never waver, never have
misgivings, but continue deeply rooted and
grounded in their faith.
02D.2
What is liken to a
believer who waivers in his faith?
In James 1:6,
this is written:
But let him ask in faith, with no
doubting, for he who doubts is like a
wave of the sea driven and tossed by the
wind. (NKJV)
A
believer who wavers in his faith, is liken to the
waves of the sea which are driven and tossed
as the wind blows.
Why does the Lord hate this kind of
believer?
he is a double-minded man,
unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8,
NKJV)
He hates the
instability of this kind of man who actually
is double minded.
02D.3
What is God's instruction to those who are
blessed enough to acquire a strong faith?
God has
words for him to keep. Through Jude, a
servant of Jesus Christ, in Jude 1:3, this
is written:
Dear friends, although I was
eager to write to you about the
salvation we share, I found it necessary
to write to you and urge you to continue
your vigorous defense of the faith that
was passed down to the saints once and
for all. (ISV)
For a firm believer who values it comes to its
vigorous defense whenever necessary, by all means,
and at all cost.
The one who has it fights to the
last in upholding it.
But you, dear friends, must
continue to build your lives on the
foundation of your holy faith. And
continue to pray as you are directed by
the Holy Spirit.*(Jude 1:20, NLT)
A firm
believer must continue to become stronger in
his faith and keep on praying so the Holy
Spirit will help him,
The
epistle continues:
keep yourselves within the
love of God and wait for the mercy of
our Lord Jesus Christ to give you
eternal life. (Jude 1:2, NJB)
A firm believer
must continue within the love of God and
faithfully wait for the mercy of the Lord
Jesus Christ to give him eternal life.
The faith that awaits rewards is firm,
deeply rooted.
02D.4
What is the outstanding
trait of a firm believer with strong
faith in God and Christ?
In Matthew 24:13, the Lord Jesus
explained, thus:
"But he who endures to the
end shall be saved. (NKJV)
They
have the strength to endure
persecutions, trials and problems of
life in this world. The Lord
said "he who endures to the end will
be saved". End means the cessation
of man's breath or the end of the
world, whichever comes first.
