In the One New Man, those who are in Christ
Jesus have attained peace with God.
29H.1
Who are those "who are
in Christ Jesus"?
Now you are the body of Christ,
and members individually. (1
Corinthians 12:2, NKJV)
Those who
are in Christ Jesus are the members of
the Body of Christ.
28H.2
How did they become members of the Body of
Christ?
In Romans 6:3-4, this is documented:
Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
(NKJV)
Those who are in Christ
Jesus are those who were baptized into the One Body, the Church
headed by Christ or the True Church of Christ.
How were they crucified with Christ so that Christ could answer for
their sins?
-
Symbolically the members of Christ's Body were
crucified with Christ when "they were
baptized into Christ Jesus" and thus making them members of His Body.
-
The linkage between Christ and the members of His
Body was established when "they were buried with Him through baptism into
death."
-
With this baptism into
death, it is for them that Christ died. Christ answered for their
sins and their sins were forgiven by God.
Thus, "just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the
Father", even so, God now requires the members of Christ's
Church to "walk in newness of life."
28H.3
What was ultimately achieved after having gone
through the "baptism into death" with Christ and now "walk in the
newness of life"?
Going back to the plan of
God written in Ephesians 2:10, we can read:
For we
are his masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works that
God prepared long ago to be our way of life. (ISV)
God's plan
become
realized, when a sinful man becomes God's masterpiece. That is, a sinful
man has been
created anew in Christ Jesus for good works and now walks in newness of
life.
28H.4
Now that the sinful man has become God's
masterpiece, can we now say that he is now freed from the eternal punishment which is the
second death in the lake of fire?
Apostle Paul confirm it in
Romans 8:1, when he said:
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
(Rom:8:1, KJV)
Certainly, the sinful man who was created anew in Christ Jesus is now freed from
punishment. There is therefore now no condemnation to them, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
