10B.    The Anointed Cherub—Perfect But Not In Love

In order to fully understand the workings behind God's plan, let us first study and understand the story of the "Anointed Cherub"—perfect but not in love.

10B.1   Was there anyone whom God created perfect but was found without love?

In Ezek. 28:14-15,  God's prophet of old declared thus,

"You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; you were on the holy mountain of God; you walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.
You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you. (NKJV)

The same verse in another version of the Bible:

You were the anointed as the guardian cherub, for so I ordained you.  You were on the holy mount of God, you walked among the fiery stones.  You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. (NIV)

The anointed cherub was created perfect but later on iniquity or wickedness was found in him—the proof that he was without love.  For if one loves someone,  he will never do him wrong or iniquity.
In Romans 13:10, this is written:

"If you love others, you will never do him wrong;  so love, then is to obey the whole law (Good News Bible)

10B.2   What iniquity or wickedness  was found in the anointed cherub?

In Ezek. 28:17,  this is further stated:

"Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze at you. (NKJV)

The same verse in another version of the Bible for clarity:

Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings. (NIV)

The anointed cherub lifted up his heart because of his beauty.

10B.3   What is meant by his "heart was lifted up"?

In Is. 14:13-14, a companion verse,  this is written thus,

For you have said in your heart: `I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north;    I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.' (NKJV)

The same verse in another version of the Bible for clarity:

"But you said in your heart,  `I will ascend to heaven;  I will raise my throne above the stars of God,  And I will sit on the mount of assembly  In the recesses of the north. `I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;  I will make myself like the Most High.' (New American Standard)

The anointed cherub aspired to be like the most high or God.  This iniquity is rebellion against God and the very proof that the anointed cherub,  although perfect at first,  was without love.

10B.4   What did God do to the anointed cherub who tried to usurp God's throne?

In Rev.12:9, this is written:

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (NKJV)

God cast him to the ground thus becoming the devil and Satan.

____________

Obviously, God did not want man to be like the anointed Cherub, whom He created perfect but later on iniquity or wickedness was found in him (Ezek. 28:14-15). The anointed cherub aspired to be like the most high or God.  This iniquity is rebellion against God and the very proof that the anointed cherub,  although perfect at first,  was without love (Isa. 14:13-14.  So, God cast him to the ground with his angels, thus becoming the devil and Satan who deceives the whole world (Rev.12:9).
