The
old self has to be created anew (reborn or born again). The old self—that has been put to death with Christ on the cross—is
referred to as their former manner of life, that was destroyed by
its deceitful desires.
34G.1 What manner of life must be lived by those
"who have been
baptized into the death of Christ"?
In Romans 6:4, Apostle Paul explains:
By our baptism, then, we
were buried with him and shared his death, in order that, just as
Christ was raised from death by the glorious power of the Father, so
also we might live a new life. (Romans 6:4, TEV)
They should begin to lead a new life,
just as Christ was raised from death by the glorious power of the Father.
34G.2
What
is this new kind of life that should be lived by those who have been baptized
into the death of Christ and created anew through the living and enduring
word of God.
In Ephesians 4:24, this is written:
and that you put on the
new man which was created according to God, in righteousness and true
holiness. (NKJV)
They must lead a new life that is in accord
with the commands of God.
In short, they must lead a life in
righteousness and true holiness,
34G.3 How
can anyone maintain this righteous and holy way of life?
In Ephesians 4:23, this is written:
and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, (Ephesians 4:23, NKJV)
In order to attain a righteous and
holy way of life, it is necessary
to "renew the spirit of the mind".
