God
wants everyone to listen to Him. Young and old alike, rich and poor,
high and low, wise and fool and even the senseless. God wants all of
them to heed His call.
48B.1
What
does God want men to ponder?
In Psalms 49:12-13, This is God's
pronouncement through His servant King David:
12.
They will not last
long despite their riches- they will die like the animals. 13. This is the fate of fools, though they will be remembered as
being so wise. (NLT)
God wants all men to ponder, that is to
reflect on and consider
this pronouncement with thoroughness and
care:
-
That men despite his
riches will will not last long, they will die like
animals.
-
This will inevitably happen to
the wise, who only trust
in themselves. He will also die like the animals,
though they will be remembered as being so wise.
48B.2
What
else does God want men to ponder?
In Ecclesiastes 3:19-20, this is recorded:
Then I realized that God
allows people to continue in their sinful ways so he can test
them. That way, they can see for themselves that they are no better than
animals. For humans and animals both breathe the same air,* and both
die. So people have no real advantage over the animals. How meaningless!
Both go to the same place-the dust from which they came and to which
they must return. (Ecclesiastes 3:18-20, NLT)
God wants men to
ponder, that is to weigh in his mind with
thoroughness and care:
48B.3
What
does God want men to realize, be they rich or poor, high or low, wise or
fool?
In Psalms 49:14-16, King David wrote the
pronouncement of God that all men should realize:
14. Like sheep, they are led to the grave, where death will be their
shepherd.
In the morning the godly will rule over them.
Their bodies will rot in the grave, far from their grand estates. 15. But as for me, God will redeem my life. He will snatch me from
the power of death. (NLT)
God wants men to realize, that
is to comprehend completely the reality of these biblical truth:
-
That all men will die
like animals,
be they
rich or poor, high or low, wise or
fool,
Like sheep, they will be led to the grave, where death will be their
shepherd.
-
In the
morning
the godly
will rule over them, that
is
"the godly will rule over or
prevail over the wicked", when the time of the
Lord comes.
-
That
God
will
redeem the godly
(like King David) from the power
of death (resurrect), for He will
receive them in heaven.
