Obviously man is different from the animals in many aspect, but, why is a
sinful man likened to an animal?48F.1 What
has befallen all men?
In Romans 3:23, Apostle Paul explains:
For all have sinned; all
fall short of God's glorious standard. (NLT)
In the sight of God, all men have sinned
and fall short of His glorious standard.
48F.2 What is the full payment of
sin?
In Revelation 20:14,
Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
(NKJV)
The punishment meted by God for all men as
full payment of sin is the second death in the lake of fire and brimstone.
Man at this state of eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire are already
considered dead by God, for it is only the living who can praise the living
God.
(Matthew 22:32)
48F.3 Because of this eternal
punishment, the second death in the lake of fire that will be meted to all
sinners, to what is a man who sins likened to?
In Ecclesiastes 3: 19-20, the answer is explained:
For what happens to the sons of men also happens to beasts; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over beasts, for all is vanity.
All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust. (NKJV)
Because of his sin, man will suffer the
second death,
by this, man has now become like an animal or a beast, as what will happen
to a beast will also happen to sinful men. Like the beast, a sinful man will
never live again or attain eternal life.
48F.4 How does the Bible consider a
man who is alive but gives himself to the works of the flesh or living is sin?
In 1 Timothy 5:6, this is written:
But she who gives
herself to wanton pleasure is dead even while she lives. (New American
Standard)
God consider all men who give themselves to
wanton pleasure—the works of the flesh or
living in sin—is considered dead even while he/she is still living.
What are some of the works
of the flesh or sins?
Now the works of the
flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies,
outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy,
murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you
beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who
practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians
5:19-21, NLT)
48F.5 Why are those
who are living in sin
considered dead even while they are still living?
In the following verses these are
written:
The pay for sinning is
death, but God's gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
(Romans 6:23, International English NT)
Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
(Revelation 20:14, NKJV)
And the devil, who deceived
them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the
false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and
ever. (Revelation 20:10, NKJV)
Those who are living in sin are considered dead
while they are still alive because they will surely pay for their sins.
And, the full payment of sinning is
the second death, in the lake of fire and brimstone
where they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
_______________
A sinful man is likened to an
animal because he is doomed to die like an animal. And like an animal, a
sinful man will
never live again or attain eternal life. In the eyes of God,
a sinful man is already considered dead even while he is still alive because he
will surely get the second death when the Lord Jesus Christ returns.
