God
calls people to Christ through the preaching of the Gospel (Topic-24F)
If a man wants to be saved, he
must hear and study the words of God about salvation—that is the Gospel
of Christ. The Gospel is the power of God to salvation for those who
believe. Man must accept the
gospel and believe in it with all his heart, and only then faith set-in.
(Topic-02C)
But, faith alone is not enough in order to be saved.
Man must also perform the works
demanded by Christ.
30F.1
What does the Holy Scripture
say about these people who merely contend in pronouncing their faith in Christ Jesus yet perform no works demanded by Christ?
Apostle James has this to say in James 2:14:
What does it profit, my brethren, if
someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith
save him? (NKJV)
Unprofitable or useless, indeed, is faith without works.
30F.2 How did Apostle James
further illustrate the conditions of faith without works?
In James 2:17, the Apostle states:
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
(NKJV)
The same verse in another Bible:
So you see, it
isn't enough just to have faith. Faith that doesn't show itself
by good deeds is no faith at all-it is dead and useless. (NLT)
Faith is considered dead or useless if it does not have works.
30F.3 What must accompany faith so
as to be of value or worth?
In James 2:22, Apostle James further explains:
"Do you see that faith was working
together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect."
(NKJV)
Faith attain a level of perfection through works. Through the
accompaniment of works faith becomes perfect.
30F.4 What work
should a man have with his faith so that he maybe saved?
In John 10:9, the Lord's command is clearly written:
I am the door, If anyone enters by Me, he
will be saved, . . . . (NKJV)
Our Lord Jesus Christ commands us to
"enter by Him" in order to be saved.
"Entering in the door" is definitely an action to be done
to attain salvation!
How then can a man
enter by Christ as the door in order to be saved?
In I Corinthians 12:27, Apostle Paul
declares:
Now you are
the body of Christ, and members individually. (NKJV)
To enter by Christ, man must
become a member of the body of Christ — the true Church of Christ.
This is the work that is required
(of course by those who have faith in Him) to be done in order to be save.
Because, by becoming a member of His Body — the Church, Christ can
answer for his sins and be forgiven by God, thus attaining salvation on
the day of Judgment.
But, many still refuse to enter Christ's church and argue that they can
be saved by just accepting Christ without the church. They profess faith or belief in Jesus. They assert that
they are the followers or adherents of Christ. In short, they merely believe in
Christ but refuse to find and enter Christ's Body or Christ's Church.
Who were those who
followed Christ's commands?
Jesus said
to the people* who believed in him, "You are truly my disciples if
you keep obeying my teachings. (John 8:3, NLT)
Who were those who
said "I know Him" but refused to follow His commandments?
He who says, "I
know Him,'' and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the
truth is not in him. (1 John 2:4, NKJV)
As Christ's disciples, man is obligated to obey
his commandments. Otherwise, he will be called a liar because the
truth is not in him.
____________________
Faith must have works in
order to be saved. Faith without works is dead, but with works it is
made perfect. In order to be save, Christ's command anyone to enter by Him, as the door of the flock,
and this is by becoming a member of the true Church of Christ. As
faithful disciples of Christ, He should follow His commandments in order
to be saved.
