Repentant man must show his genuine desire to be
of Christ, meaning he no longer carry his old self which has been corrupted by
the lust of the world, but walk after the spirit, the image of God and not after
the flesh. Hearing the gospel, acquiring faith and receiving baptism in
the one body are not the only things a sinner should do to be saved.
46H.1 But, should a sinner be content in
receiving baptism? What else must he do to be sure of attaining salvation
as promised by Christ?
In I Corinthians 15:1-2, Apostle Paul answers:
Moreover, brethren, I declare to
you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you
stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I
preached to you unless you believed in vain. (NKJV)
He must keep and abide by the Gospel which
was preached to him and which he also received. He must remain steadfast in all the words of God which he
heard and believed.
In Proverbs 4:13, the Bible further instructs:
Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; keep her, for she is your life.
(NKJV)
Take hold of the instruction of the Gospel,
do not let it go in anyway for they are your hope for eternal life. Members
of the Body of Christ should not let persecutions, poverty,
sickness, mockery, trials and temptations, to dampen their spirit in
keeping the Gospel.
46H.2 Apostle Paul anticipating
life problems to happen to the members of the Body of Christ, what is the
advice he gave to withstand the test to faith?
In I Timothy 6:12, Apostle Paul tells Us:
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
(NKJV)
Apostle Paul said,
fight the good fight, and take hold of the eternal life promised by God through Christ.
46H.3 What must a firm believer have in
order to overcome all trials and tribulations that will come his way while maintaining
his membership in Christ's Church?
In Romans 8:35, 38-39, this is written:
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(NKJV)
A firm believer must have this strong
conviction. He must not let any trials and tribulation and anything
that may come his way , to lead him away or separate him from the love of
God which is in Christ Jesus.
Just as the Bible confirms in Revelations
3:5:
"He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
(NKJV)
He must always look forward to the promise
of the Lord Jesus, that if he overcomes all, he name will not be blotted out
from the Book of Life, for Christ's will confess his name before God and His
angels.
46H.4
What is the promise of God
(through Christ), to those who endures trials and stood the test of his faith?
In James 1:12, the promise of God is written:
Blessed is the man
who endures trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown
of life which God has promised to those who love him. (RSV)
The promise of God is the "Crown of Life"
which is eternal life. God will give the Crown of Life to those blessed people
who loved him.
_______________________
In order to maintain
membership in the body of Christ, he must keep and abide by the Gospel which
he received. He must keep the teachings in memory, and let not anything dampen
his spirit in moving on. A firm believer must have this strong conviction.
All trials and tribulation will come, but he should not let not any of them lead
him away from the promises of God and Christ. A firm faithful believer will stand unmoved
before all persecutions. Come what may, his faith lies over what God
can do to him. The promise of God is the "Crown of Life" which is eternal
life. God will give the Crown of Life to those blessed people who loved him.
