In Genesis 2: 16-17, it is stated:
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying,
"Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;
"but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.''

God's religion began with the first
man—Adam. The statute was very simple, and it serve as a guide for the
conduct of his peaceful life and the consequence if he violates it.
His loyalty and obedience meant the preservation of his life, but
violation of the prohibition from God would spell his doom.
