18D.1
What did the first couple (Adam and Eve) do that
violated God's commandment?
In Genesis
3:1-6, this is written:
1. Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, `You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?''
2. And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;
3. "but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, `You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.' ''
4. And the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.
5. "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.''
6. So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
(NKJV)
The woman
took a fruit of the "tree of knowledge of
good and evil" and ate it, and she also gave
to her husband and he ate it too.
18D.2
Did the woman know fully
well the commandment of God and the
consequence of violating it?
In Genesis
3:1-6, this is written:
2. And the woman said to the serpent,
"We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;
3. "but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, `You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.' ''
Yes, she
knows it very well and that she shall die if
she ate of it.
18D.3
Then, why did Adam and Eve
transgress God's commandment? What caused their fall from the grace
of God?
Genesis 3:13 tells us:
And the Lord God said to the woman, "What is this you have
done?''
And the woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate.''
(KJV)
As Eve
declared, she was deceived by the serpent. She was deceived into
believing a lie.
What was the lie told
by the serpent?
4. And the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. 5. "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'' (Genesis
3:4-5, NKJV)
That "she will not surely die".
And, that her eyes will
be opened and she will be like God, knowing good and evil.

The moral lesson: "The
woman was deceived because she believed what the
Serpent said which is contrary to that of her
Creator. She did not pay reverent respect to the
commandments of her Creator, thus she was
"deceived into believing a lie" that she will
not die, and on the day she eat of the fruit,
and her eyes will be opened, so she will
become like God knowing good and evil.
