18E   The Tragic End Of Adam's Transgression

The first couple did not pay reverent respect to God's commandment. As Eve declared, she was deceived by the serpent. The first couple fell from the grace of God;  the peaceful relationship between God and man was disrupted.

18E.1   What was pronounced upon the life of man after transgressing God's command? What have they earned for turning their back against God's commandment?  How was their life affected?

In Genesis 3:17 it is pointed out:

17. Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, `You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life.

A curse was pronounced against the ground because of man.  He has forfeited that life of ease and comfort, and he has to toil all the days of his life.

18E.2   Was it only the physical suffering that was pronounced upon the life of man after the transgression made by Adam and Eve?

Verse 19 of the same chapter tells us:

19. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return.'' (NKJV)

Man's transgression has consigned him back to the dust. He has forfeited his right to an unending life.

18E.3   What did God do to give reality to all this curse upon the life of man?

In the verses 23-24 of the same chapter,  this sad account is stated:

23. therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.
24. So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life. (KJV)

God sent them out of the Garden of Eden to till the ground from in the place they are taken. And, God placed a Cherubim and a flaming sword to guard the way to the tree of life so he cannot eat it too.
