It is only in Jesus Christ that man have redemption through his
blood and the forgiveness of man's sins, in accordance with the riches
of God's grace.26G.1
What exactly does redemption
mean? How important is it to be redeemed?
In Galatians 3:13, this is written
But by becoming a
curse for us Christ has redeemed us from the curse that the Law brings;
for the scripture says, "Anyone who is hanged on a tree is under
God's curse." (TEV)
The same verse in another version of the
Bible:
Christ redeemed us
from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us--for it is
written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"-- (NRS)
Redemption means being redeemed or freed from the curse of the law.
Thus, to be redeemed from the curse of the law is to
be saved from the wrath of God.
Therefore, man's salvation from the wrath of God can only be attained by
redemption through the blood of Christ.
Note:
The
curse of the law is that the sinner must pay the price of sin.
For the sinner to pay for his sin, the sinner must suffer the second
death, which is the eternal suffering in the lake of fire and brimstone
(popularly called hell).
26G.2 Why is man's redemption
(freed
from the curse of the law) in
Christ Jesus only?
Romans 3:24-25, the Bible gives us the answer
But by the free gift of God's grace all
are put right with him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free.
God offered him, so that by his sacrificial death he should become the
means by which people sins are forgiven through their faith in him.
God did this in order to demonstrate that he is righteous. (TEV)
Because, it is only Jesus that was offered by
God as a sacrifice, so His death should become the only means by which
people sins are forgiven.
It is only through the sacrificial death and blood of Christ that
man's sins were forgiven by God, thus obtaining man's redemption or
freedom from the curse of the law.
26G.3
What can be
done only by the blood of Christ? Why is this so?
In Hebrews 9:14, The Bible gives us the answer:
How much more shall the
blood of Christ, who through the eternal
Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience
from dead works to serve the living God? (KJV)
The same verse in the New International Version of the Bible:
How much more then, will the
blood of Christ, who through the eternal spirit offered himself unblemished to God,
cleanse our conscience from the acts that lead to death, so that we
may serve the living God! (NIV)
The blood of Christ has the power to
purge or cleanse man's conscience from
dead works or from acts that will lead man to death, that is from
sins that will ultimately lead man to the second death in the lake of
fire.
26G.4 Can man's sin be forgiven without the shedding
of Christ blood?
In Hebrews 9:22, this is written:
Indeed under the law almost anything is
purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there
is no forgiveness of sins. (Heb. 9:22 RSV)
No! . . .
Without the shedding of Christ's blood, there is no forgiveness
of sins.
