to attain salvation, one must hold firmly to the gospel.

In Colossians 1:23, it is written:
Provided that you continue securely
established and steadfast in the faith, without shifting from
the hope promised by the Gospel that you heard, which has been
proclaimed to every creature under heaven. I, Paul, became a servant
of this Gospel. (New Revised Standard Version)
To hold firmly to the gospel is to be
continuously secure and steadfast in the faith
without shifting from the hope promised
by the Gospel.

the condemnation reserved for unbelievers? What misfortune
await those who do not obey the Gospel of Christ? What
will God do to them?
In 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, the answer is given:
in
flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on
those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These
shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of
the Lord and from the glory of His power,
(II Thessalonians 1:8-9,NKJV)
To all unbelievers and those
who do not obey the Gospel of Christ:
They shall be punished with everlasting destruction.
